The Ward 2 Debate

Oct 10 Debate on Rogers Community TV

Watch here .  We were asked to address a number of issues affecting Ward 2 and Guelph, including

  • development
  • transportation
  • crime and policing
  • cannabis
  • campaign styles
  • where we live

I enjoyed this opportunity to provide you with my approach to some of the issues the next Council will be dealing with.  If you have any questions or concerns, I’d be happy to address them.

Vote Monday, October 22.

  1. What improvements would you suggest to help pedestrians, cyclists and transit users, including (transit) cost and safety – crossing the streets on foot? Do you think walk timing is sufficient to cross at busy intersections, or should it be longer?

    1. Hi Helen

I’m a walker and a driver so I see this issue everyday. With an aging population, people with mobility issues, moms and kids…yes, crossing times at some intersections seems too short. We should look at the timing for crossing as well as where and how crosswalks are placed and marked. Using new technologies to time lights can also help with traffic flow and improve transit service. Great question. Thanks for asking.
